Kagawa Prefecture's 8th Henro Pilgrimage Experience for Foreign Residents/Visitors

On October 29, 2011, we started off Kagawa Prefecture's 8th Henro Pilgrimage Experience for Foreign Residents and Visitors with a visit to the beautiful Honen-ike Dam in Kanonji.  This is a wonderful piece of Taisho period (1912-1926) architecture.

We ascended the Pilgrimage Trail for more than 6 km.  The view of the surrounding mountains and their beautiful foliage was just breathtaking!

As we neared the top, we found ourselves walking in patches of sunlight punctuating the spaces between towering cedar trees.

At the temple entrance, we purified and readied ourselves for a visit to the sacred Unpenji Temple (No. 66 on the Henro Pilgrimage Circuit).
.

If you ever come to Unpenji Temple, be sure to enjoy the wonderful view from the highest of all 88 temples on the Pilgrimage Circuit!
